SkyView Wind Uplift System

The SkyView Wind Uplift System is an innovative solution with a patent-pending design that is engineered to lock down pedestal pavers in high-wind environments. This system combines the SkyView Wind Uplift Kit, SkyView Pedestals or Wind Uplift Waffles, and specialized Unilock Wind Uplift Slabs to create a robust, invisible tie-down mechanism that secures slabs in place and resists wind uplift pressures, without compromising project aesthetics.

Invisible Lockdown for High-Wind Environments

High winds pose a significant risk to elevated roof decks. Winds can create uplift pressure that, if not properly managed, can cause displacement or instability of rooftop surfacing materials. To address this, the SkyView Wind Uplift System is specifically engineered to withstand these uplift forces. It combines the Wind Uplift Kit with SkyView Pedestals or Wind Uplift Waffles and Unilock Wind Uplift Slabs to deliver a secure and invisible solution for rooftop patios and other elevated outdoor spaces that are exposed to extreme weather conditions. Watch the video to learn more.

Benefits of the SkyView Wind Uplift System

Wind Resistance

Designed to withstand wind uplift pressures, this system is ideal for rooftop environments in regions frequently impacted by extreme weather and high winds.

Invisible Tie-Down

Secures slabs in place without visible fasteners, maintaining a clean and seamless aesthetic.

Limited Adhesives Required

Unlike other wind uplift systems, Unilock Wind Uplift Slabs are not required to be glued down to the surface of the pedestal to ensure maximum tie-down. However, for certain site conditions, the pedestal bases may still require adhesion to the roof membrane.

Design Flexibility

Unlike other wind uplift systems that limit you to stack bond paving patterns, the SkyView Wind Uplift System allows for the installation of running bond patterns at multiple offsets.

Component Features & Functions

Each component of the SkyView Wind Uplift System plays a vital role in providing a stable foundation for roof deck surfacing materials. Explore their features and functions to see how they work together to create a complete and reliable system.
Screw
The screw is used to fasten the keyway lockdown bar to the puck.
Keyway Lockdown Bar
This dovetail-shaped bar locks into the undercut channel of the wind uplift slabs, anchoring them to the pedestals.
1/8” or 1/16" Top Pad
The top pad is an optional component that aids in sound dampening, shock absorption, and grip. It can also be used effectively for shimming to fine-tune the level of pavers on pedestals.
Top
The 49-square-inch top provides an ideal footprint to support various surfacing materials. It features four 3/16-inch tabs to ensure fast and easy alignment when installing materials like concrete slabs. These tabs can also be easily removed, if required. Additionally, the sight hole allows installers to visually verify full engagement of the top with the core, ensuring a secure connection between the two components.
Puck
The puck screws into the top of the SkyView Pedestal, providing a secure point for attaching the keyway lockdown bar.
Washer
The washer secures the core to the base of the pedestal. The textured bottom of the washer mimics the socket shape on the cores to ensure a flush and secure connection once installed.
5" or 10" Core
The 5" and 10" cores extend the height of pedestal assemblies. The concave socket on the bottom of the core fits onto the convex dome on the base, allowing orbital movement to adjust for slopes up to 6%. Its textured surface improves the connection between the base and cores. Additionally, a built-in drainage hole on the side of the cores helps maintain proper water flow, preventing standing water.
Base
The 49-square-inch base provides a stable foundation for the pedestal. The orbital socket, formed by connecting the base to the core, adjusts for slopes up to 6%. The holes in the base facilitate water drainage in traditional installations, and in wind uplift applications where adhesives are needed to secure the pedestals to the roof membrane, they enable the adhesive to expand and bond more effectively.
Screw
The screw is used to fasten the keyway lockdown bar to the threaded insert of the wind uplift waffles.
Keyway Lockdown Bar
This dovetail-shaped bar locks into the undercut channel of the wind uplift slabs, anchoring them to the wind uplift waffles.
1/8” or 1/16" Top Pad
The top pad is an optional component that aids in sound dampening, shock absorption, and grip. It can also be used effectively for shimming to fine-tune the level of pavers on pedestals.
1" Wind Uplift Waffle
Specifically designed for roof deck installations with minimal elevation, Wind Uplift Waffles are specialized pedestals that raise surfaces from a ½ inch to 2½ inches while helping to combat wind uplift pressure. Their compact design provides exceptional stability and load distribution, making them ideal for tight spaces and areas with limited height clearance. These waffles have a threaded insert in the center to allow for the keyway lockdown bar to be secured with the screw.
