Holland Energy Park is a state-of-the-art combined cycle natural gas plant located in Holland, Michigan. Offering engaging educational and recreational experiences for visitors and the community, it is more than just an electric power-generating resource. Built on an environmentally neglected area, the development has helped preserve the surrounding Windmill Island wetlands and expanded the gateway into the city. The building is situated in a natural setting, featuring paved pathways, a waterfall and pedestrian bridge, as well as vast native greenery. The project required the old concrete sidewalks to be removed and recycled, as they were being replaced with a combination of ArtlineTM and Il Campo® pavers. The long, clean lines of Artline are complimented by the irregular etched surfaces of Il Campo and reflect the progressive and contemporary design approach used for the entire park. The paved walkaways weave around the plant’s perimeter and connect it to the Mecatawa Greenway system, completing the whole facility, which in turn demonstrates the city’s character, goals and commitment to sustainability.

Holland Energy Park had received the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s (ISI) Envision® Platinum award recognizing the sustainability of public infrastructure.
