Alumni Stadium at the University of Guelph is home to their varsity football team, the Griffins. It features a state-of-the-art CFL sized synthetic turf football field, a newly renovated track, and a re-designed outdoor space. The outdoor space is designed specifically to bring the flow of fans into the stadium while bringing elements of the football field outside.

Frontiers Design + Build chose Unilock Promenade™ Plank pavers with Smooth Premier finish in contrasting shades to mimic the lines of the football field, and created brick pathway arches in the distinctive Il Campo® finish, to encourage the flow of foot traffic towards the stadium. The renovation also features a miniature replica football field to host youth events and a ‘Champions Corner’ which features a concrete stage for events, displaying athletic national award winners. The linear, yet geometric, paving pattern was carried into the design of the stage surface, creating a vibrant pattern that leads the eye to the award plaques installed on the wall behind them.

The final design of the stadium truly elevates the user experience with the implementation of wayfinding techniques, made possible by the availability of contrasting Unilock paver colors. Manufactured with EnduraColor™ Technology, the paver colors will also remain for years to come thanks to the durable, wear-resistant surface that will stand up to the rigor of cheering fans, games and community events!
