Introducing the SkyView™ Roof Deck System
In urban environments, where space is at a premium, rooftops are prime real estate. Property developers, owners, and architects are now taking steps to repurpose these often-underutilized spaces in new and existing buildings, into dynamic outdoor living spaces that add tangible value. Rooftop retreats can provide a peaceful escape from busy streets, and offer access to fresh air, natural light, and panoramic views. Additionally, these communal areas foster social connections that can help transform buildings into vibrant communities. When equipped with the right materials and systems, roof deck amenity spaces can be easy-to-maintain, durable environments that offer long-term benefits.
To meet the growing demands of modern rooftop construction and design, Unilock introduced the SkyView™ Roof Deck System. This comprehensive solution simplifies rooftop installation while supporting a wide range of design visions. The system consists of next generation pedestals and wind uplift solutions, combined with a range of surface options making it easier to create safe, resilient, and design-forward rooftop spaces.
A Strong and Simple Foundation

At the base of many roof deck designs are pedestal systems, which provide an effective way to create level, usable outdoor spaces over sloped or uneven surfaces. By elevating paving materials, pedestal systems also allow for drainage and convenient access to rooftop utilities concealed beneath the surface.
The SkyView Pedestal System builds on these advantages with a simple, patent-pending modular design that uses minimal components to achieve heights from 3 to 31 inches, without the need for cross-bracing. The system compensates for slopes up to 6 percent, improving adaptability across a wide range of site conditions. Engineered for efficiency and performance, the system delivers easy installation, long-lasting durability, and versatility for any application over structure including rooftop patios, terraces, parking garages, and more.
Where minimal height elevation is required, the SkyView Low-Profile Waffles offer a compact and durable alternative, raising surfaces from a 1/2 inch to 2 1/2 inches while maintaining system compatibility and performance.

Designed to Withstand Wind
Rooftop spaces are inherently exposed, and wind is a powerful and often underestimated force acting on these environments. Though it can’t be seen, the effects of wind uplift can be devastating. Wind uplift occurs when pressure beneath a roof surface exceeds the pressure above it, creating a lifting effect that can dislodge roofing components if they are not properly secured, posing risks to both safety and performance.
The SkyView Wind Uplift System is an innovative solution from Unilock with a patent-pending design, engineered to lock down pedestal pavers in high-wind environments. When system elements are combined, they create a robust, invisible tie-down mechanism that secure slabs in place and resist wind uplift pressures, without compromising project aesthetics.

Surface Options That Shape the Space
With a structural foundation in place, the rooftop becomes a canvas for creative expression. Surfacing plays a critical role, defining the aesthetics and functionality of the space. Unilock offers a versatile portfolio of high-performance roof deck surfacing options, including concrete slabs, wood tiles, and fiberglass grates as a support for any Unilock paver. Each product is designed to meet demanding project requirements while enabling you to elevate your design vision with confidence.
Concrete Roof Deck Slabs
Unilock roof deck slabs offer a flexible approach to rooftop surfacing, with a wide range of finishes, sizes and colors to support any design vision. Our unique finish options bring texture and depth to your projects, while expanded size offerings allow designs to move beyond the standard 2-feet by 2-feet format. A curated color palette further supports a wide range of architectural styles, making it easier to achieve a cohesive, intentional look across the space.

Wood Tile
Wood tiles offer a warm, organic look that complements a wide range of rooftop designs. Their natural texture helps soften hard surfaces and adds definition to outdoor spaces with visual depth and contrast. SkyView Wood Tiles are no exception. Sustainably harvested and 100 percent Lacey Act compliant, these 24-inch by 24-inch tiles are not only stunning but also slip-resistant and resilient. Crafted from premium hardwoods like Ipe and Cumaru, the dense composition makes them perfect for use on SkyView Pedestals, allowing for seamless integration into roof deck designs with a variety of complementary paving materials.

Fiberglass Grate
Large-format slabs are a popular choice for pedestal systems due to their clean lines and efficient installation. However, relying solely on large slabs can limit creative design opportunities. Incorporating small-format pavers can provide the opportunity to add accent borders, inlays, and enhanced visual interest in roof deck designs. Our SkyView Grate makes this possible. Installed on top of SkyView Pedestals or Low-Profile Waffles, it serves as a support system for small-format pavers, allowing for a wide variety of laying patterns, inlays, and accent border, just like with on-grade applications.
Bringing Rooftop Spaces to Life
As rooftops continue to evolve into meaningful extensions of the built environment, the systems that create them matter more than ever. The SkyView™ Roof Deck System addresses the unique challenges presented by rooftop environments, from slope and height variability to wind uplift and material compatibility. Whether the goal is a quiet retreat or an active gathering space, SkyView provides that foundation to transform underutilized rooftops into elevated environments that enhance buildings, support well-being, and add lasting value.
