At Unilock, we offer a carefully curated selection of high-performance hardwoods chosen for their natural beauty, strength, and resistance to harsh outdoor conditions, making them ideal for rooftop decks, patios, terraces, and other exterior applications.
Our Wood Species:
- Ipe (Brazilian Walnut): Known for its exceptional density and deep brown tones, Ipe is one of the hardest woods on the planet. It offers natural resistance to rot, insects, and weather, making it ideal for roof deck spaces.
- Cumaru (Brazilian Teak): This wood delivers a golden tan to reddish-brown hue with beautiful dark grain variations. Slightly lighter in color than Ipe, Cumaru provides a more vibrant, tropical look while still offering durability.
Benefits of SkyView Ipe & Cumaru Wood Tile
High Strength
Ipe Compressive Strength: 22,560 psi | Cumaru Compressive Strength: 14,793 psi
Ipe Janka Hardness: 3,680 lbs | Cumaru Janka Hardness: 3,540 lbs
Durable
Ipe and Cumaru are resistant to decay, mold, and weathering. With minimal maintenance, they can last decades, ensuring beauty and performance.
Fire Resistant
As per ASTM E84-15a: Standard Method of Test for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials, Ipe meets the requirements for a “Class B” flame spread and Cumaru meets the requirements for a “Class A” flame spread.
Smooth, Safe Surface
With a fastener-free, smooth surface, these tiles offer resistance to splinters and slips, ensuring a safe and comfortable surface.
Resistance to Wind Uplift
Manufactured with kerf cuts on all four corners, these wood tiles accommodate a standard washer which can be used with our wind uplift system, creating an invisible tie-down mechanism that resists uplift pressures.
Ipe and Cumaru wood tiles develop a natural silver-gray patina over time due to exposure to sunlight and the elements. This weathered look is purely cosmetic and does not affect the structural integrity or performance of the wood. To retain the wood’s original rich color, simple routine maintenance is recommended.
- Clean the surface periodically to remove dirt and debris
- Apply a UV-resistant hardwood oil or sealer
Whether the natural patina is embraced or original color is maintained, Ipe and Cumaru offer long-lasting elegance and resilience for any outdoor space.
Our wood is sustainably harvested and 100% compliant with the Lacey Act. The Lacey Act requires that all wood products are harvested, transported, and sold legally at every stage, from the country of origin to the United States. Importers and sellers must exercise “due care” by verifying the legality of the wood and submitting accurate import declarations, including species and country of harvest, to the U.S. government. This commitment guarantees that our wood is free from any association with illegal logging or trade, supporting sustainable forestry practices and legal compliance throughout the supply chain.
