South Main Street

South Main Street

D'Onofrio Kottke and Associates, Inc.

Verona, Wisconsin

South Main Street in downtown Verona is a county trunk highway and was in need of complete rebuilding and revitalization. The multiphase project included revamping Hometown Junction Park, a Verona focal point at the intersection of Railroad Street and South Main Street, with new picnic areas, off-street parking, stonework, and other decorative features. Walking paths and the granite veterans memorial fountain were also featured at the park and right along South Main Street. The street reconstruction included terrace work along several sidewalks and crosswalks with extended curb areas designed for pedestrian comfort and safety, the paving of bike trails and installation of additional amenities like ornamental iron fences, planters and LED streetlights. The combination of ArtlineTM Smooth Premier Bavarian Blend and Il Campo® Heritage Brown were used to create the paver terraces, dramatically enhancing the aesthetic of the downtown street and revitalizing it for future business developments.
