Cambridge Discovery Park is ‘where innovation happens’. This master-planned Life Science campus covers more than 27 acres, with multiple state-of-the-art buildings, lush green space, and amenities for tenants to enjoy. Building 400-500 on the campus is a LEED Gold Certified, Class-A lab, R&D and office development with a fitness center and café. Unilock provided paving solutions for the outdoor spaces at Building 400-500, including the covered entry drive, entrance plaza and outdoor seating and dining areas.
As you pass through the covered entry drive between building 400 and 500, there is a distinction between the pedestrian and vehicular areas. This delineation is made through the use of barriers, as well as Umbriano finish, plank pavers in contrasting colors. The vehicular space features a unique, grey-toned paving design that creates an ‘X’ shape across the laneway. Meanwhile, a single beige-toned plank paver was used to block out and define the pedestrian-focused area which features tables with seating and benches. Not only do the chosen paver colors offer function, but they also match the colors used in the architecture of the building for a seamless design.
The Umbriano paver finish used in the covered entry drive was also carried into the outdoor dining area. This space includes tables and chairs with umbrellas, providing the perfect spot for meetings or lunch breaks. Umbriano finish pavers are manufactured with EasyClean Technology which provides integral surface protection from stains. This is a significant benefit for high traffic spaces like the entryway and dining areas that are more susceptible to stains.
The entrance into the building, just around the corner from the covered entry drive, features another Unilock paver, giving this space its own distinct look. This entry plaza also incorporates outdoor seating, offering another great place for tenants of Cambridge Discovery park to take a break, relax, and get outdoors.
