The Rogers Centre, formerly the Skydome, was a modern marvel in professional sports with a retractable roof and the largest scoreboard in the world when it was built in 1989. In 2017, it was time for some updates, the image of the baseball team had changed and the expectation of the fan experience had also changed. Among the many planned upgrades was the replacement of the paving surface surrounding the stadium. When originally constructed, Unilock pavers were chosen for the exterior groundwork, actually a roof deck application above the underground parking garages. As the pavers weathered extremely well over the last 28 years they were the natural choice for refurbishment. The unique textures and long-lasting EnduraColor finish combined with a palette of colors to complement the Blue Jay brand were chosen in the linear pattern of the Artlineâ„¢ shapes. The first phase of the renovation was completed in 2017 on the north and east side of the stadium with careful planning so that stadium events were not disrupted. Phase 2 will continue on the south and west sides in 2018.
