Located in downtown Chicago, Malcolm X College has created a 500,000 SF state-of-the-art academic complex at Jackson Boulevard and Damen Avenue. Featuring a variety of modern and sustainable design elements, the college is surrounded by seatwalls and unit paving to create the main entry plaza, courtyards and walkways with social engagement opportunities and wayfinding elements throughout the campus. A combination of Eco-PrioraTM, Unigranite® and SeriesTM in different colors were used to create the striking paving design. The pavers create both, linear and random patterns, successfully complementing the glass building façade. The Malcolm X College campus now serves as a community anchor and the spaces surrounding the buildings a home to walkways that provide opportunities for socialization.
