IBI Group

Kitchener, Ontario

This precedent setting project has created a downtown environment complete with improved pedestrian facilities, upgraded lighting, and distinctive street furnishings unique to Kitchener’s City Centre District. This pioneering Ontario project boasts many innovative design features: infiltration planters designed to promote groundwater recharge, low-profile curbs to improve pedestrian accessibility, and a flexible parking system that uses removable bollards to allow the city to respond to the changing face of the downtown in the different seasons. The Unilock Umbriano pavers were an essential element to the contemporary redesign.
