Tinkham Veale University Center is located in the middle of three separately defined campus zones at Case Western Reserve University. The new university centre consists of student gathering spaces, dining facilities, meeting rooms and offices for student organizations. The building features three wings that are designed to facilitate the convergence of students from all three zones and serve as a connection point to tie the entire campus together. The building follows the flow of pedestrian circulation: a grass ramp stretches toward the nearby art museum and culminates in an outdoor amphitheater and two-story triangular wings extend toward the engineering and science buildings and toward the liberal arts and professional schools, respectively. Permeable Eco-Priora™ with Umbriano® finish were chosen for the extensive walkway along the building capturing the modern style and creating the unity of the walkways’ design with the entire construction. The Umbriano finish was selected for its ease of maintenance. The integral EasyClean™ Stain Resistance protection ensures that the heavily trafficked space is easier to keep clean. Likewise, the granite style of the finish completes the vision and integrity of the contemporary style of Tinkham Veale University Center.
