Permeable
Church Street runs along Libertyville, a village in Lake County, Illinois, and acts as grounds for weekly summer Farmer’s Markets and the Libertyville Days Festival. In addition to landscaping in the form of decorative lighting fixtures, a new parking lot and open space has been added to the streetscape in front of a town building. Focused on creating a sustainable solution and mitigating the area’s flooding problems, the permeable paver Eco-PrioraTM was used for the walkway surfaces, to reduce stormwater runoff allowing rapid penetration of water into the sub-base and subsoil. These permeable pavers bring together the benefits of environmentally green paver systems, while complementing streets with their aesthetic design and following the architectural patterns of the building that fronts the paved road. Introducing such parking lot improvements leads to significant reductions in stormwater management costs, an increase in a property’s marketability, and the beautification of the village streetscapes.
