Avonshire Park is the centre of a new community located north of the 401 and west of Yonge Street. The park design responds to and reinforces the site layout, the modern and formal architectural style of the residential towers and the curved edge of the townhomes along the west of the park. Envisioned as a hybrid of the friendly, familiar neighbourhood park and the functional, contemporary, urban plaza, the park seeks to address the everyday lives of the people within this community. The main areas of the park are the promenades, central plaza, playground and open lawn areas. Unilock Il Campo®  pavers in Santa Fe are used for the field, with highlights of Il Campo® Dark Charcoal scattered in a random ‘fun’ pattern. A unique feature of this park is the dry fountain in the central plaza. This fountain is incorporated into the lockstone walkway, giving it the appearance of a regular pathway system. Only when the activation button is pushed, the lockstone pathway transforms into a water play splash pad. This adds a unique element of surprise to the park and a sense of wonder.
