Tucked behind the 17-storey cosmopolitan condominium, with frontage onto Adelaide Place, the newly built 8,000 ft² landscaped public parkette offers a peaceful retreat from the bustle of Toronto’s downtown. This Planning Partnership-designed urban green space aesthetically complements and connects to Adelaide Street via an open-air galleria that cuts through the condo’s ground floor, offering greater pedestrian access to the area. The bird-view from above demonstrates a multitude of trees planted directly in the ground with the use of Silva Cell technology, preventing soil compaction to support large tree growth and providing powerful on-site stormwater management. Visitors to the urban parkette are welcomed by curved planters with precast wood seating and patterned paving stones. Unilock 4×4” and 4×8” pavers with Smooth Premier finish were used on site, creating a unique visual interest in an already striking public space – the park’s outer edges are covered with grey and red pavers, while the centerpiece patterned paving is reminiscent of a quilt – and making Musée Condo a pedestrian-friendly oasis in the city’s urban core.
