Located just south of the W. 25th Street entrance of Madison Square Park, Jemmy’s Dog Run is a year-round community park for dogs, aptly named after Founding Father and 4th President of the United States, James “Jemmy” Madison.

The dog park is known for being a popular place for locals to bring their pets to frolic, socialize, and play. The Madison Square Park Conservancy enlisted the expertise of designer SWA/Balsley to envision a new design for the dog run within this historic New York City landmark. The newly designed space perfectly complements the park’s Victorian-era charm while seamlessly integrating modern features such as water fill stations for the pooches, exciting climbing mounds, upgraded K9 turf, and the installation of Unilock permeable pavers.

The park’s contemporary ambiance was elevated with the installation of Hex Paver™ with an Umbriano® finish in Midnight Sky, delivering a streamlined and polished appearance. The decision to opt for these pavers was driven by their permeable application, allowing for greater absorption of excess rainwater into the subsoil through wider joint gaps. This thoughtful design approach not only helps prevent flooding but also prevents freezing during colder months. The distinct Umbriano® finish boasts a charming mottled surface akin to natural granite, which accentuates its appeal under the warmth of sunlight. What’s more, this unique finish delivers a safe, slip-resistant texture perfect for pets and pet-owners alike!
