3rd Street

3rd Street

Christopher B Burke Engineering Ltd

Bloomington, Illinois

The 3rd Street project in Bloomington, Illinois, transformed this open space in front of town homes and local businesses by providing a large and dynamic pedestrian-friendly area. This included integrating sustainable design features, as the permeable paver application aids in stormwater reduction, mitigating flooding in the area. Thornbury with Series and Il Campo finishes was used for the streetscape surface, as its subtle surface texture and various sizes allow for versatility in design. Featuring large planters and striking paver patterns, these streetscape improvements have greatly added to the ambiance of the town street, as well as increased visual interest and pedestrian safety.
